What is Fresh 48 photography?
Fresh 48 sessions are photo sessions that take place usually in the first 48 hours of your baby’s life, often in their place of birth. They are a great way to capture their first moments of life and your first meeting as a family. It’s a great alternative for families who don’t necessarily want their labour or birth photographed.
Not heard of this yet? It’s not super prevalent in the UK but it’s such a special time in your baby’s life and your life as a new parent so it’s amazing so if you want these moments captured then check out my style of Hertfordshire family photography and then let’s chat!
How does it all work?
Obviously, birth dates are unpredictable (as well as sometimes the place of birth!) so you just let me know when things start to happen and then once your new arrival is here, I can come to the hospital or your home to capture the interactions between you all.
It’s a largely unposed session so we can make sure you have all the real images to look back on; the little details of your baby but also the growing bond between you and the logistics of life with a baby like nappy changes and feeds. Furthermore, if you have other children we can coordinate to get their first meeting photographed as well.
The first moments after delivery pass in such a blur it’s wonderful to have these photos to look back on for a lifetime.
Loving these photos of those precious first moments? Me too! Let’s start planning your own photo session with your newborn together.
What to expect during your Fresh 48 photo session?
I appreciate that you’ll also have a barrage of people wanting to visit you so I won’t take up more than an hour of your time! And we’ll try and find the best light so these sessions are always best during daylight hours.
You should feel comfortable in front of the camera so if that means showering and putting on some makeup then feel free. If that means staying as you are then that’s great too. It’s all about you feeling comfortable being yourself.
The most important thing is being as natural as possible so we’ll chat and you can continue to care for your baby as you naturally would.
Holding your new baby for the first time is one of the most magical feelings. It’s such a honour to capture it for you.
This is a magical time. If you want that magic captured, get in touch with me and I can discuss it with you.
