St Albans engagement shoot: Helena & Mike

Helena & Mike got married at a local St Albans church followed by a ceremony at Old Albanian Rugby Club.

Helena grew up in St Albans and she and Mike had their first dates in Verulamium Park during the pandemic so it seemed like a great place for their engagement shoot.  They walked for hours round the park when we lived in the bizarre rule of 2, couldn’t go indoors and they’d not long since met.

We relived the weird days of their early relationship (but the three of us!) and wandered around Verulamium park, the lake and St Albans cathedral area.  It’s such a beautiful space in St Albans so we had a lot of fun taking some photos.

Their life has moved on a little since they, they are now allowed in the same building thankfully and have built a beautiful life together with a little boy added into the mix and it’s easy to see why as their calming company is very easy to be around.

This shone through when it poured on their wedding day and it didn’t phase anyone! You can see more of their beautiful St Albans rugby club wedding here.

As I always mention, having an engagement shoot is a good way to take a break from wedding planning. It’s also a lovely way for us to get to know each other before your wedding day so I turn up with you being familiar with me. And most of all, it’s a great chance to get any camera jitters out of the way if you’re not feeling 100% confident about having your photo taken. If you want to read more about it then here are my five top reasons for having an engagement shoot.

Verulamium Park in St Albans is also always one of the favourite locations among my couples. I do understand why… the combo of roman ruins, green space, trees and changing seasons. Plus you’ve got the lure of the famous Fighting Cocks pub if you need a break from photo taking!
