The beautiful Charlton House in Greenwich could not have been more perfect for Abi and Will to cement their 7 happy years together as Abi is a self confessed bookworm and dreamt of getting married in a library. In fact it was one of the first things she told me when we first chatted. I’d never actually heard of Charlton House before but it’s a staggeringly beautiful well kept secret nestled in beautiful parkland in Greenwich.
Abi and Will started with a swipe right.
They met for junkyard golf which was a competitive showdown but ended with a second date thankfully because these two are the real deal. As Will said in his beautiful vows, everyone is simply happier when Abi is in a room. And I think the same is true of Will. They were both surrounded by their squad in the morning, getting ready together in a friend’s house as laughter rang out. The boys got dressed with Top Gun’s Playing With The Boys blaring on loop and the girls sipped on champagne and laughed away. It was real squad goal territory.
Apart from their beautiful ceremony officiated by a university friend of Abi’s, Vicky (who did an incredible job!) there were lots of drinks outdoors in the lovely walled garden, amazing speeches, cutting of the Colin the Caterpillar cake and laughter all day.
However, for me as a photographer, the real highlights of this day were the little moments of magic – the ones I live for… the bridesmaids who all met skiing at uni surprising Abi and Will with a snowboard turned into a shot board which resulted in shot drinking chaos. I loved that Will also said this was the highlight of his day too as he got to watch all his favourite people who didn’t necessarily know each other just pitch in and do shots together. The bridesmaids then decided they could pick up Will and nearly dropped him. The dance floor kicked off like I’ve never seen and everyone going berserk like you wouldn’t believe when Mulan’s ‘I’ll Make A Man Out Of You’ came on! Never seen that at a wedding before…!
This was a real highlight to photograph with a true gem of a couple. I hope you love the photos as much as I loved taking them.
If you are still looking for a wedding photographer and would love these kind of joy-filled wedding photos for your own wedding day too then let’s have a chat and see if we’re a good fit!\
