Blackstock Barn wedding photographer: Rach & Staff

Rach & Staff got married at Blackstock Barn.  It was my first time working as a Blackstock Barn wedding photographer and boy it didn’t disappoint. It’s a beautiful venue with gorgeous grounds and isn’t far from Brighton so pretty convenient to boot. Rach & Staff had their ceremony and dancing in the small barn and their wedding breakfast in the larger barn so made good use of the whole venue.

It was a typical April day in that the weather was changeable to say the least!  There was torrential rain and strong winds, bright blue skies and sunshine and a cracking sunset.  All four seasons in one day!  The wet weather certainly didn’t dampen any spirits and Rachel was the calmest of brides.  She started the morning at her parents’ home with her family and bridesmaids Ashton, Lizzy and Lucy.  There was such a lovely atmosphere at the house and the sense of excitement really started to mount when the dress came out.  And Rach looked a million dollars in her gorgeous gown.

The guys were really no less calm when I met them at Blackstock and had everything well under control.  The ceremony was in the old Tudor Barn and was adorned with hundreds of strings of fairy lights.  It had such a romantic feel to it!  I also loved that Staff’s oldest friend is an excellent violinist and played the bride in, during the signing of the register and on the exit of the couple.

Unfortunately it was a little wet to venture outside for most of the drinks reception but the guests certainly enjoyed milling round the barn and we could all still see the amazing countryside views from the huge barn windows.

Dinner was served in the impeccably decorated Granary building which has been beautifully converted.  I loved the style of this wedding as it felt very relaxed with boxes of wild flowers adorning the tables and little homemade cookies as favours. During the speeches Staff & Rach were gifted two little miniatures of their much beloved dogs Blue & Alfie which caused much merriment.  As well as the three traditional speech givers, Rachel’s maid of honour also said a few words.  It was clear from all four speeches how very well loved and respected they are as a couple.

Before dinner the sun graced the day with its presence and treated the guests to the most beautiful sunset so I snuck the happy couple out for a few photos and then the crazy dancing commenced!  The band was a fiddle style band who had the crowd going nuts by the end of the first song, loved it!  As the nighttime crepe bar was setting up to feed the dancing masses I left Staff & Rach to it to enjoy the rest of their wedding day, but also to head off on their impending secret honeymoon!
