Get ready for a sparkly, fun filled day of Maidens Barn wedding photography coming at you. This was everything you could imagine for a pre-Christmas celebration, let alone a wedding. It was such a beautiful day at this stunning barn venue in Essex.
So, this wedding was just amazing. Lorraine, Sophie’s Mum, got in touch with me about 18 months before the day and said I had to photograph it. I said that I don’t book weddings that far in advance but she told me it HAD TO BE ME. And that was the end of that. You don’t argue with Lorraine, haha.
I first met Lorraine photographing Kim and Simon’s wedding way back in 2012, and then had the pleasure of photographing her wedding (where Sophie was her bridesmaid). It was just so amazing to see them both again, plus the rest of this lovely family. It felt like being welcomed back like an old friend.
Anyway, this wedding was everything you’d want from a perfect day to celebrate your marriage. Sophie and Ben are so made for each other. They complement each other wonderfully, make each other laugh (a lot!) and just had such a joy-filled day.
I usually expect a few jitters from brides and grooms in the morning but there was absolutely none of that. They were both unbelievably calm; just so excited to get themselves married to each other and starting their married life together. Their first look was perfect – I just love their excitement at seeing each other for the first time.
The whole day was incredible. Ben’s heartfelt speech brought a tear to my eye. The hilarious dance between Sophie, her Mum and her brother Tim. Their ceremony filled with so many moments of laughter. The fact that they remembered absent family more than with a simple toast.
I’ll stop talking and let you just look at the photos. It’s the second time I’ve been able to photograph at Maidens Barn, the first was in summer so very different experience as a winter wedding photographer there, but what a sparkly magical day.
