A Catholic ceremony and sunny summer Brocket Hall reception

Maddie & Sam met at school when they were just 15 and this was a real school affair. They went back to St George’s school chapel in Harpenden for their wedding ceremony which was officiated by the school chaplain and surrounded by school friends who have all known each other since their school days. It gave the wedding such a warm, family feel as everyone there was already old friends.

It also had a real buzz in the air because it was the first wedding for a lot of the guests there with Maddie and Sam being the first in their circle of friends to tie the knot. The excitement was palpable!

The morning started with all the bridesmaids getting ready at Maddie’s house and putting on mismatched blue dresses; they all looked incredible. When the call came to say the vintage bus had broken down and wouldn’t be able to take them to the church or ferry guests to the reception, Maddie didn’t even blink. She was just too excited to get to the church to marry Sam.

Just after the ceremony, Maddie’s gorgeous class of reception kids were waiting outside to surprise her and sang Isn’t She Lovely to her and Sam and threw confetti on the happy couple. It was beyond adorable and Maddie was super shocked to see them all!

Where the day had started out a little windy it cleared up into a gorgeously sunny day for guests to mingle in dazzling sunshine on the patio at Brocket Hall before heading into a beautifully decorated Italian themed room with pale blues and whites for the wedding breakfast. Great speeches by Maddie’s Dad, Sam and the best man and maid of honour got the evening off to a great start and their married life started the same way.

I know that these two will have a lot of fun and adventure in front of them.

If you want to know how Maddie & Sam felt about having me around then this is their words:

“Thank you so much for these photos. They are absolutely gorgeous and beautiful! Everyone looks so happy! I love the special touch of the slideshow with the song, and I also love how you were able to capture all of the little details in the room before everyone came in. You did a really great job of getting all of the angles, Sam and I had a giggle because we didn’t notice at all when you were moving around the room and getting the different angles. Thank you again and we will 100% be recommending you to anyone who needs a photographer! We are the first of our friends to get married so hopefully there are more couples to come.”
