An intimate Hertford Registry Office wedding with stunning flowers

This was a small but perfectly formed wedding.

Emily and Nick just had their immediate families and a friend or two at their registry office wedding before jetting off to Italy for a bigger celebration. If you’re having a European party or wedding, why not take me with you and carry on your documentary style photography and when you get back I can design a beautiful wedding album with continuity throughout?

For this day, we met up at Hertford Register Office which has to be one of the more stunning register offices in Hertfordshire. The insides are light and bright and then you have the benefit of the gorgeous arches to take photos in afterwards.

They opted to walk in together which I love – good to buck traditions when they don’t serve you! And then had a laughter filled ceremony. Both Emily and Nick are very expressive so it made for some great photos.

Alison, Emily’s Mum did a reading and managed to mix up the name of the person who’d written it which caused lots of laughter among the assembled guests.

After some confetti and family photos in the arches, we wandered down to Hertford Castle to take some more couple photos. Maisie, their very fluffy retriever came to join us looking very gorgeous in her flower collar. Boy was she excited to see them and get her muddy paws all over Emily’s gorgeous Catherine Deane two piece trouser suit. Emily didn’t mind one bit because I think all three of them were over the moon to get their puppy cuddles in!

Once Maisie headed home we headed for drinks and dinner and got to be treated by the most incredible table scape you’ll ever see – what a masterpiece to behold with handwritten calligraphy table placecards, Beauty & The Beast style flower domes, vintage books, fresh strawberries. It was incredible!

I am also in LOVE with Nick’s pocket flowers rather than traditional wedding buttonholes. I think they look incredible and Nick’s were definitely a little bit extra… more of a pocket garden. My favourite florists Alison from Boho Flowers (who also happens to be Emily’s Mum) and Yulia from South Barn Flower Co always do an incredible job and this wedding was no different.

Huge congrats Nick & Emily!
