Rectory Farm wedding photographer: Alex & James

Alex & James had such a lovely day a month or so ago and I was so happy to be there to witness it. The day started at Alex’s Mum’s house with her lovely bridesmaids and brother. There was such a great atmosphere all morning. I met James & the boys at the church a little before the ceremony as guests started to arrive. It’s clear how loved this wonderful couple are from the excited buzz in the air at the church!

Alex arrived at the church in a vintage mini driven by a friend which I just loved. Sadly Alex lost her Dad a few years ago but his presence was well felt at the church with him “walking Alex down the aisle” – she’d attached a locket with his picture to the back of her shoe.

The ceremony was so personal to them with Alex’s childhood priest coming to deliver the sermon while the local vicar officiated the ceremony. After the service we all headed to Rectory Farm in Cambridgeshire for the reception which was a new venue for me. It’s a lovely country house with a huge marquee for the receptions.

Alex & James had decorated so beautifully. They are both keen travellers and I loved the travel type theme; a map for the table plan, tables named after places they’ve lived and been to, little map letters. And not related to travel but I LOVED the favours which were all lego keyrings of various characters, so cute!

After three great speeches from Alex’s brother, the groom and the bestman this crowd were ready to party! And boy did they party. Hands down some of the best, most outrageous dance moves I’ve seen at a wedding in recent memory!

Fireworks finished off what was a wonderful day and Alex & James headed off to Japan for their honeymoon. Hope you had an incredible time 🙂
