Well, I’m sure, if you’re on my mailing list and read my post about pivoting away from wedding photography to focus on family photography, you’ll probably find me posting about weddings again a little confusing but I’ll get to that… Sidenote: if you’re not on my mailing list, where have you been, you are missing out! So, this wedding was just amazing. Lorraine, Sophie’s Mum, got in touch with me about 18 months before the day and said I had to photograph it. I sort of said that I wasn’t photographing as many weddings now but she told me it HAD TO BE ME. And that was that. You don’t argue with Lorraine, haha.

I met Lorraine photographing her wedding a few years ago (where Sophie was her bridesmaid) and was just so happy to see them both again, plus the rest of this amazing family. It was so amazing to be welcomed back like an old friend.

Anyway, this wedding was everything you’d want from a perfect day to celebrate your marriage. Sophie and Ben are so made for each other. They complement each other wonderfully, make each other laugh (a lot!) and just had such a joy-filled day.

I usually expect a few jitters from brides and grooms in the morning but there was absolutely none of that. They were both unbelievably calm; just so excited to get themselves married to each other and starting their married life together. Their first look was perfect – I just love their excitement at seeing each other for the first time.

The whole day was incredible really. Ben’s heartfelt speech brought a tear to my eye. The hilarious dance between Sophie, her Mum and her brother Tim. Their ceremony filled with so many moments of laughter. The fact that they remembered absent family more than with a simple toast.

I’ll stop talking and let you just watch the slideshow. It’s the second time I’ve been able to photograph at Maidens Barn, the first was in summer so very different experience as a winter wedding photographer there, but what a sparkly magical day.

Congratulations Mr & Mrs Morris!
