I’m still so far behind with blogging a lot of family photo sessions, but I’ve just been back in touch with this family about their next photo shoot so it’s prompted me! There are no words for how flipping cold this day was. It looked beautiful with the autumn leaves and the lovely light, but the wind was bitingly cold. Yikes. We all barely managed ten minutes outside before cowering indoors for a bit.
I wonder if this photoshoot actually pushed me further towards the documentary style of photography I’ve gravitated towards now?! There is something lovely about not having to drag kids outside when it’s chilly or raining! If you want to read a bit more about why I’ve become so passionate about documentary family photos and having photos at home then take a little read of this blog post that I wrote about having family photos at home.
The joy of photographing old friends
I’ve known Pete for years through photography actually. We first met on a photography course in Amsterdam of all places and have been firm friends ever since. So it was lovely to finally meet Cath and their adorable daughter Abbie. And I’m so excited that I get to photograph their world again early next year… this time with a more natural, reportage feel to it. I’ll be sure to post the photos more quickly this time!
If you fancy some updated family photos why not consider a bit of a combination photoshoot – we could spend some time at home capturing your life exactly as it is. Then we can spend a little time getting the mantlepiece shots to tick those Christmas presents off for the grandparents. Everyone is happy all in one go! If you’re considering investing in family photography then this can be the best of both worlds.
