St Albans engagement shoot photographer: Sophie & Dan

Ahead of their Christmassy wedding at Tewinbury Farm this December, I met up with Sophie and Dan to take some engagement photos in St Albans. I’ve worked as a Tewinbury Farm wedding photographer only once before. That  was also a Christmas affair so I’m really excited to see a bit more of the venue at such a cosy time of year. Moreover I’m beyond excited that Sophie & Dan felt they would trust me with the photos of their wedding because they also happen to be good friends of mine. Double yay!

I’m sure everyone has noticed that the weather has been a bit hit and miss this summer. We had their engagement shoot scheduled for various days… A couple of times it was pouring with rain so we postponed, then something came up at work and so on. It was starting to look like we’d never get all the elements in place to catch the last of summer. Well…! I don’t know how they did it but they picked possibly the most beautiful evening of the summer so far. The light was golden and beautiful. The sun was setting and sending the sky a glorious bright blue. Sophie and Dan are total naturals in front of the camera. It all came together in the most amazing set of perfect circumstances.

I love the way that Dan makes Sophie laugh with such abandon that she throws her whole head back and giggles. I also love the way that Sophie sneaks adoring looks at Dan when he isn’t watching. I really loved being around these two as they are so obviously in love and get on so well.

This wedding is going to be an absolutely corker, check back in December. In the meantime, if you think you’re as lucky as Sophie and Dan with picking a beautiful evening to take some photos in, then definitely get in touch!
